Here at ZEISS we have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and driven Project Buyer to join our procurement team on a permanent basis to support the manufacture of leading edge electron microscopes and associated technology.

The role of the Project Buyer is be be responsible for Request for Quotations (RfQ), procurement negotiation and supplier selection process, driving Make Collaborate or Buy (MCoB) decisions, mitigating risk and ensuring material availability for prototypes, pre-series and start of production.

Understanding market trends and opportunities, Project Buyers select competitive suppliers capable of adding significant value to the organisation, thereby supporting the successful development and launch of innovative products and solutions.

Talented negotiators, skilled communicators, and excellent coordinators, they actively and swiftly manage the Supply Chain for new project introductions and engineering changes.

What will I be doing?

  • Understanding of projects scope and technical purchasing specifications.
  • Analysis of buying markets and selection of competitive vendors in alignment with the Department Head and SCM colleagues.
  • Management of RFQs and ordering process (SAP based) including placement, scheduling, and tracking of inquiries and purchase orders to secure the projects material supply.
  • Co-ordination of efficient information flow between external and internal partners.
  • Negotiations of procurement conditions and contracts.
  • Driving Make - Collaborate - or Buy - Decisions.
  • Escalation management
  • Continuous improvement and problem solving within the full scope of Supply-Chain processes.

What skills do I need to be able to show?

  • Experience in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing/Procurement and/or Project Management required.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, disciplined, and structured individual.
  • Efficient in managing large amounts of data, excellent in summarising and presenting content in a dynamic organisation.
  • Advanced knowledge in SAP.
  • Interested in understanding high-technology and the creation of customer-oriented solutions.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office package.
