Roles and Responsibilities

  • Make corrective mechanical and/or electrical repairs to plant and equipment for which appropriate training has been undertaken, aiming to return equipment to an acceptable condition, capable of the highest standards of performance possible subject to equipment age, condition and previous operation/maintenance.
  • Manage day to day operations of the maintenance stores. Ensure suitable stock levels are maintained to reflect the company's requirements, monitor inventory levels and liaise with purchasing/procurement to provide an effective service.
  • Carry out condition based maintenance on the company's compressors and driers and liaise with sub-contract personnel in their remit to conduct proactive maintenance as directed.
  • Liaise with 3rd party personnel to monitor the continued operation of the site's fire suppression systems and report/record any faults found. Liaise with sub-contract personnel to maintain the plant and ensure that the company and its employees continue to remain adequately protected.
  • Carry out procedural inspections to monitor and record the condition and/or operation of a variety of plant and machinery directly related to directive permits/consents to operate and ensure continuous legislative compliance.
  • Ensure highest priority is given to safety and well-being of operators, maintenance personnel or any 3rd party in the vicinity, during equipment maintenance, using appropriate tooling.
  • Implement planned corrective maintenance in a scheduled equipment shutdown situation, with the aim of restoring equipment to full operational condition, and undertake planned preventive maintenance on plant and equipment, making use of any suitable diagnostic and predictive techniques to aid maintenance.


Technical Requirements:

  • A good standard of general education is required.
  • An engineering apprenticeship is desirable, although training will be given.
  • 5 years similar experience in an engineering manufacturing facility working on similar equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical / Electrical maintenance drawings.
  • The ability to use inspection equipment associated with maintenance activities is essential.
  • Good computer skills are desirable, as is a knowledge of the computer systems used (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc).
  • Working knowledge of statutory regulations is desirable - electrical, pressure systems and transportable gas, manual handling.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of welding techniques, IEE wiring regulations, total productive maintenance is also desirable.
  • Knowledge of plant equipment and services is essential.
