About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an HSE Advisor to join one of the world's five largest pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisations. My Client has production facilities in Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, India and the UK and development sites in Sweden, Israel and the United States. My Client is a world-leading CDMO abetting customers bringing innovations to market, from early-stage development to commercial manufacturing.

My Client's site in Holmes Chapel is one of their inhalation manufacturing facilities.

Using your experience as an HSE Advisor, you will:

  • Provide professional HSE advice, aid and leadership to the site enabling the effective implementation of the site integrated HSE management system and utilising good practice to achieve legislative and corporate compliance
  • Attend appropriate HSE training as required for the job role
  • Assist in the implementation of corporate HSE requirements
  • Establish and maintain appropriate safe ways of working, including procedures, instructions etc. in line with the site and corporate stakeholder expectations
  • Undertake specific risk assessments as part of the site risk assessment programme
  • Assist/lead HSE event investigations
  • Provide coaching / mentoring / encouragement to site HSE role holders, including line management, safety representatives and risk assessors
  • Generate training material and deliver training on a variety of HSE topics
  • Provide guidance and endorsement to line management and employees on a variety of topics
  • Develop HSE communication material, e.g. toolbox talks, HSE newsletter
  • Monitoring and communication to stakeholders on the status of programmes/action plans
  • Participate in site HSE workplace inspections and safety conversations
  • Participate in site HSE audit programme
  • Set up site stakeholder visits/audits
  • Take accountability to use experience and knowledge and the training and tools provided to maintain a good knowledge and perceptive of all ethics and governance relevant to the role, and demonstrate personal leadership in applying these to all work undertaken.
  • Escalates any decisions or seek the support of colleagues or management if personal knowledge and understanding is not at the level required to carry out any part of the role
  • Care about safety and well-being and the safety of others and co-operate with the company to ensure a safe place of work. My Client expects employees to:

What experience do I need?

You will have at least five years of experience in a similar role in a pharmaceutical / allied industry working environment.

We would also require experience of the following:

  • Degree or equivalent in a Scientific or Engineering discipline
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
  • Train the trainer qualification would be desirable
  • Knowledge and application of UK health and safety legislation applicable to the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Experience in:
  • Generating / Implementing Safe Systems of Work
  • HSE Event Investigation
  • Risk Management
  • Auditing
  • Training
  • Good IT skills; use of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills
  • Decision-making skills
  • Ability to interact/work with all levels on site
