Job title - Financial Accounting Manager

Location - Whitely London, Canary Wharf/Remote

Rate - Up to £450 PAYE or £577 Umbrella Day rate.

Start date - ASAP

Contract - 6 months

Our financial services client is currently seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to join their team in the London/whitely office/remote working, this contract will initially be for 12 months.

Join a small team responsible for the financial reporting (The Bank's Group, statutory and regulatory reporting) for a life insurance entity, retail insurance business and other smaller business areas. The main purpose of this role is to support the team in all areas of financial reporting.

Managers are accountable for setting the 'tone at the top' which underpins the principles of a positive and effective internal control environment. They should exhibit leadership and direction to their teams for establishing and maintaining an effective internal control environment, including the development and management of policies and procedures where appropriate. Managers should also ensure that suitable processes are put in place to review and oversight that internal control environment against those policies.

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Providing technical accounting, regulatory and tax reporting support;
  • Support the team in all areas of financial reporting, as required;
  • Deputising for the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO).

· Apply technical accounting and regulatory knowledge and skills successfully to support reporting requirements.

  • Clear understanding of stakeholder's requirements.

  • Provide management support to the team (onshore and offshore).
  • Deputizing for the CAO, as required.

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant.
  • Keeping abreast of rapidly changing statutory and regulatory insurance reporting requirements, dictated by regulators, continually reviewing, and updating processes to ensure that the highest standards of control and integrity are maintained.
  • Understanding of the UK insurance market and associated statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Awareness of the main methods/techniques used for accounting within insurance.
  • Ability to integrate development activity, arising as a consequence of constant business / regulatory change, smoothly into business-as-usual processes.
  • Understanding and communicating highly complex financial management issues to a management team in a manner that facilitates effective decision-making.
  • Relationship management to influencing business partners / stakeholders including the Board.
  • Systems: Microsoft Office (in particular Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong communicator & strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to run projects.
