The Role
The Diagnostic Engineer is responsible for ensuring all new vehicles are launched with a fully working diagnostic tool for our Authorised Repairers.
You will be responsible for diagnosing faults through development of a one tool / one system creating a simple approach to service and maintenance.
The aftersales Diagnostics will be directly working with the Aftersales team and there shall be full cooperation between departments to provide customer solutions.
Reporting directly to the Head of Aftersales, the Diagnostic Engineer will be responsible for tracking the delivery of delivering the Aftersales diagnostics solution.
Ensure alignment between diagnostic data defined and system requirements captured - Work with the Engineering team and suppliers as needed to complete the task by the launch of every new vehicle.

  • Collaborate with component owners, system, and software engineers, to define functional diagnostics requirements
  • Define diagnostic tool requirements and development.
  • Plan, author, modify, check, and release diagnostic files
  • Input using your experience into the design and specification of business processes, procedures, and programs to support the development and growth of the business
  • Report Serviceability Diagnostic status at key program milestones
  • Support the development of Serviceability strategy including, but not limited to:
  • Vehicle diagnostics
  • Tooling and facilities
  • Strategic Service partnerships
  • Technical service authoring
  • Maintenance, repair, and recovery
  • Emergency service information and education
  • Service systems infrastructure.


  • 3+ years' experience in automotive diagnostics
  • Good knowledge of automotive diagnostic standards: ISO-14229 (UDS), ISO-15765 (DoCAN), ISO-13400 (DoIP), SAE-J2012 (DTC Definitions), ISO-22901 (ODX)
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, LIN)
  • Familiar with ECU reprogramming and testing sequences
  • Experience authoring/editing diagnostic description files with CANdela Studio & ODX Studio (or similar)
  • Ability to manipulate & analyse 2D/3D data (e.g., Technical Drawings, Vehicle Logs)
  • Experience with project/issue/requirements tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Jama)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Serviceability experience with Electric Vehicles is desirable
  • Experience in a "Start-up" business is very desirable.
