Rate - PAYE £250 / Umbrella £324.58 per day

Contract - 6 months

Our client a leading Global Insurance Organisation are currently seeking a Claims Assessor to join their team. Undertaking a remote working role, this contract will be for 6 months.

About the role

Reporting to: Group Claims Team Leader

  • To receive claims notifications, assess claims and make settlement within the guidelines and claims philosophy.
  • Product range: Group Life including Death in Service Pensions, Group Critical Illness, Group Income Protection
  • A key requirement of the job role is to provide fair and balanced claims decisions using the appropriate amount of evidence necessary.
  • The jobholder will be in daily contact with customers, intermediaries and service providers both in writing and on the telephone. The telephone helplines will eventually be available from 8am to 8pm and therefore some flexibility of working hours may be required.

What you need to know:

Manage Group Protection claims from initial notification through to final settlement for the following products on a daily basis within an agreed level of authority and within service standards:

  • Life Assurance
  • Death in Service Pensions
  • Critical Illness
  • Income Protection

  • Assessment of claims in line with the company philosophy and policy terms and conditions.
  • Communicate with members, clients, doctors, service providers, intermediaries, reinsurers and FOS as necessary to:
  • Obtain further information in relation to claims or potential claim enquiries
  • explain claims requirements and decisions
  • resolve appeals and complaints
  • Build and maintain relationships with intermediaries and service providers
  • Work closely with other areas within the business (for example Individual Claim Assessors, Underwriting, Actuarial, Client Services, Sales) to develop a thorough understanding of the business and contribute to "best practice" overall.
  • Provide training, coaching, support and advice to less experienced members of the team and Client Services. This may be either on an ad hoc or more formal basis depending on the individual requirements.

What we're looking for:

Principal Skills

  • Communication - Well developed and effective communicator both verbally and in writing, exhibiting good questioning and listening skills.
  • Numerical - Ability to understand and calculate financial benefits.
  • Interpretive - ability to understand and apply policy rules
  • Building Relationships - Interpersonal skills to enable effective communications and working relationships with internal and external customers/suppliers. Fosters good working relationships, listens and respects the contribution of others and demonstrates flexibility within the team.

Technical Skills and Expertise

  • Experience of Group claims handling with a minimum of 18 months experience in Group Life claims.
  • Experience of guiding and supporting others in the field of Claims.
