JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Reports To Title: Financial Controller

Fareham, UK

Position Summary: Accounts Assistant required to perform accounts payable and receivable transaction processing tasks in a timely and accurate manner. The successful candidate must be prepared to escalate queries, deliver high quality and consistent service both to internal and external customers, within an acceptable timescale.

Essential Job Duties

Carry out purchase invoice activities including:

  1. Matching purchase invoices with goods-in documentation and purchase orders;

- Obtaining authorisation of service invoices;

- Post approved invoices and expenses to purchase ledger;

- Scanning;

- Prepare and post month-end accruals.

  1. Resolve problems arising from the above activity or refer them to the appropriate person.
  2. Prepare and process weekly payment runs
  3. Provide support to Accounts Receivable including invoice runs, sending out customer statements.
  4. Reconciliation of purchase ledger balances to supplier statements and resolve all differences, including contact with the suppliers where necessary.
  5. Prepare month-end control account reconciliations for purchase ledger.
  6. Assistance to other members of the finance team as directed by the Financial Controller

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
